The organization
What we do, and what we refuse to do.
We publish one thing: an annual, comparable assessment of how governments prepare for, deploy and govern artificial intelligence, together with the indicator-level data behind it. We do not sell advisory services to assessed governments, do not offer paid assurance against our own indicators, and do not accept funding tied to a territory’s inclusion, exclusion or treatment.
The assessment team is separate from the funding relationship. Scores are computed from the indicator data by rule, reviewed by the Methodology Review Panel, and published without sight or approval by any funder or assessed government.
Governance and independence
An independent Methodology Review Panel approves changes to indicators, weights and transformations before each edition. Panel members are appointed for fixed terms, serve in a personal capacity, and their affiliations are published. The Panel can require a methodology change to be deferred to the following edition; it cannot alter an individual government’s score.
Funding sources above a disclosure threshold are published annually with amounts and any restrictions attached. Where a funder has an interest in an assessed government, that interest is recorded in the same disclosure.
Contributors
Each edition credits the assessment team, the Review Panel, and the country contributors who supplied and verified primary evidence. Contributors are named in the report unless they have asked not to be, and their contribution is described at indicator level.
